The Second Noble Truth: the cause of suffering.

Chân lý cao quý thứ hai:   nguyên nhân của đau khổ. 

In China, monkeys are caught in a very special way. The trapper first takes a coconut. He then makes a hole on its side just big enough for a hand to go through when it is not clenched into a fist. He then places some peanuts in the coconut and puts it in a spot where monkeys usually visit.  Before leaving the coconut behind, he would scatter some peanuts around the coconut.

Ở Trung quốc, những con khỉ được săn bắt theo cách đặc biệt. Đầu tiên, họ tìm một trái dừa. Họ đục một lỗ vừa đủ tay khỉ thò vào. Rồi rắc ít đậu phọng trong trái dừa và đặt trái dừa vào nơi khỉ thường đến. Sau đó, người bẫy thú, rắc một ít đậu phọng ở ngoài trái dừa. 

Sooner or later, a curious monkey would come along. It would first eat the peanuts on the ground. Then, it would find the coconut and see that it is full of peanuts. When it puts its hand into the hole to help itself to the peanuts, it would be unable to withdraw its hand, which is now a fist full of peanuts. No matter how hard it struggles and pulls, it would not get free. It would cry out loud and become very anxious. All the monkey has to do is to let go of the peanuts to get free, but it would not want to do that. In this situation, the monkey is easily caught by the trapper. 

Sớm muộn khỉ sẽ đến, đầu tiên nó sẽ ăn những hột đậu phọng xung quanh. Sau đó, nó tìm đến gáo dừa và thấy gáo dừa chứa đầy đậu phọng. Khỉ thò tay vào lỗ để lấy những hạt đậu, nó sẽ không thể rút tay nó ra, khi tay nó đang cố giữ chặt các hột đậu. Rất khó khăn để xoay xở và rút bàn tay với đầy đậu phọng ra khỏi gáo dừa. Nó sẽ kêu gào và hoảng loạn. Để thoát khỏi gáo dừa, điều các con khỉ phải làm là hãy vất bỏ các hạt đậu. Nhưng nó sẽ không muốn làm điều đó. Lòng tham đã làm con khỉ sập bẫy. 

Advice - Lời khuyên

We are like the monkey.

We want to be free from suffering,

But we are not willing to let go of our desires,

Which so often get us into trouble.

This is the Second Noble Truth.

Chúng ta giống con khỉ.

Chúng ta muốn thoát khỏi đau khổ,

Nhưng ta không sẵn sàng từ bỏ những ham muốn dục vọng của chúng ta,

Vì vậy chúng ta thường tự đẩy chúng ta vào những đau khổ.

Đó là Chân lý cao quý thứ Hai.
