02. Good deeds 1

Beside the Five Basic Principles of Human Nature, our Buddha also advises us to practice the Ten Good Deeds so that we can have a virtue of a higher order being or Heaven. What are the Ten Good Deeds?

Ngoài ra, đức Phật còn khuyên mọi người thực hành mười điều thiện để có được đạo đức của một vị trời. Cái gì là Mười Điều Thiện?

Our Body has Three Good Deeds:

Do not kill,
Do not steal,
Do not cheat or commit adultery.

Thân có ba là:

Không giết hại,
Không trộm cắp,
Không tà dâm.

Our Mouth has Four Good Deeds:

Do not lie,
Do not speak two ways,
Do not speak using cruel words,
Do not speak uselessly and senselessly.

Miệng có bốn là:

Không nói dối (vọng ngôn),
Không nói hai chiều (lưỡng thiệt),
Không nói lời cộc cằn thô lỗ (ác khẩu),
Không nói lời vô ích (ỷ ngữ).

Our Mind has Three Good Deeds:

Do not greed,
Do not angry or hate,
Do not having ignorant thoughts.

Ý có ba là:

Tham lam,
Sân giận,
Si mê tà kiến.

If we can do these Ten Good Deeds then, we can have a life of peace and happiness like that of a Heaven. Otherwise, when we do the opposite of Ten Good Deeds (which means we do Ten Bad Deeds) then, we will fall into the Three Evil Realms: Hell, Ghost and Animal. Thus, the realms higher than those three are the realms of Human and Heaven.

Thực hành mười thiện thì được một cuộc sống an vui của vị trời. Ngược lại, làm mười điều ác thì bị rơi xuống ba đường dữ là Địa ngục, Ngạ quỷ và Súc sinh. Vì vậy cho nên, phương trên ấy chính là phương của trời người.
